Scan avoidance, or miss-scans at the self-checkout (SCO) can be caused by a lack of familiarity with the technology, process failure, or by deliberate actions that lead to that lead to significant losses. A “Walk-Through” refers to “shoppers” that walk through the Self-checkout zone without paying. A “Push-Out” refers to a customer pushing a cart full of goods out of the store without paying. Self-Checkout Hosts are often busy assisting customers, it can be difficult to monitor every movement across multiple checkouts, especially at peak times. iRetailCheck uses Visual AI analytics to monitor 100% of visitor movements (with or without a shopping cart, basket or bag), to remotely and automatically detect this behaviour in real time. Store or Security Staff are notified before the visitor reaches the exit. Alarm notifications can be as discreet or attention grabbing as the client requires.
